Whatsapp which is one of the most widely used messaging app with over 2 billion monthly active users worldwide announced some months back that it will not support some mobile devices anymore starting from 1st November 2021.

The Facebook-owned messaging App will no longer support Android phones that are running on version 4.0.3 or lower, and Apple iPhones that are running on iOS 9 or older.

Although, while these devices are getting to the end of receiving support for WhatsApp, it does not mean that the app will stop working all at once.

But you may notice that the phones affected will stop getting security updates, new features, which will gradually lead to the app being defunct on these older smartphone devices.

If you can update your phone to the latest Android 4.1 jelly Bean (which Google released in 2012) or higher version, you can keep using Whatsapp for now.
The same is true for anyone who brought an iPhone before 2016.

Apple rolled out IOS 10 alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus. The good news is that Apple always provides support for its users more than many of its rivals.
